I don't believe that Greek or Roman myths have much to incorporate into today's world. The hunger games remind us of ancients sacrificing there own children to appease the gods or the great coliseums where people would fight to the death to appease the great monarchs of the time. The reason this was acceptable in ancient time is due to the fact that societies were based around constant war, famine, disease, and constant death. These all were the causes of people being able to watch great warriors brutally murder like in the hunger games. Today however life is much more valued, hence the much greater population. To compare the hunger games to modern day is outrageous. Mind numbing television doesn't even begin to touch the surface of the ancient times, therefore it can't be compared or even slightly construed to present day.
