120448 I think reading these articles just makes hunger games a more compelling book. Having careers is just another showing of power, because it is a wealthier district and they seem to just be raising sacrifices. It's like a politician having a son and sending him off to the best schools just to follow in his place. It's not giving them freedom to think about wheat they really want to do with their life and how they want to live. Instead everything is chosen and given to them, while it is giving them power it makes them helpless at the same time.

The gifts from god just improves the capitals power. It's showing the tributes that they can't survive without the capital, they need to capital to provide them with food, water, and medical help. If they didn't get these things they would die which makes them somewhat indebted to the capital
120448 I do believe Katniss would have had no chance if it wasn't for her father. He taught her to hunt, how to stand up for herself, and to do the right thing. I would have loved to have seen more of him in flashbacks because I do think he needs more credit than what he got.

As far as a unsung hero, I feel like that is a little far. While he did have an influence on Katniss she was the one that had to rise to become the person that she is today.
120448 I'm currently a senior majoring in International Affairs and Psychology. After I graduate I'm wanting to hopefully go to get my masters in International Affairs. I love to travel and my dream job would be a Foreign Service Officer.

120448 SPOILER ALERT: My favorite scene is when Katniss gives the speech to Rue's family. She doesn't conform to what the capital wants her to say, she speaks from the heart.
120448 I see the main theme is the capital being a totalitarian government. They have achieved total control in the people by having them live in fear. They have surveillance that tracks everything so nobody feels safe. People are not living in free, they are living in a cage. They relates right now to the NSA scandals.

Also the government is extremely double sided, if someone in the capital makes a mistake it is laughed off, but if someone say in district 12 says even something wrong or disrespectful about the government it could cost them their life. For instance if Hillary Clinton was a more "normal person" would she have been held more accountable for the Benghazi attack? She says "What difference does it make now?" After everything she was given the National Constitution Center's Liberty Medal for her years in public service and her work on human rights. It seems like everything was swept under the run and forgotten about.
