I think that there's no explicit sex in the books is a good thing on Collins' part. In some series, it's all about the romance and so sex would be considered okay. But The Hunger Games is about Katniss trying to protect her family, and most importantly her sister, from a tyrannical government. The romance between Katniss and Peeta seems forced, to me, and not real until the very end of Mockingjay. Sex in the series would just be a distraction from the real story.

My problem with the "They do it, why shouldn't we," approach is that that makes you no better a person than they are. I'm sure some people are able to throw away morals when going to war, and I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I just think that it all boils down to who's the better person.
So many homeschoolers! I'm also a homeschooled freshman in high school. I'm taking this course with my brother and mother. I want to be either a vet or a nurse, I'm not quite sure which, yet. Maybe both!

The inequality of the classes and the massive differences between the classes. It's very interesting to see how those issues correspond to issues today.
SPOILER ALERT: At the end of Catching Fire and Gale says, "Katniss, there is no District Twelve." The suspense it created and the way you have no idea what's going on is why that scene is at the top of my list.
