1199510 Hi Florence,

It's good to meet you!

I've never heard of that author before, so thanks for the book recommendations. And I agree with you when it comes to liking anything with a Gothic setting. It's what makes them so special. :-)

1199510 Thornyhold is on my list of books to read. Thanks for the recommendations. I also love stories with spooky old houses. They're always on my reading list. ;-)

1199510 Hi Debbiecat,

Great to meet up with you here on Goodreads!

I love creepy old houses, too! 'Rebecca' is one of my favourites, another is 'The Woman in Black.' Not sure if it's classified as Gothic, but it's a wonderfully creepy ghost story.

Apart from reading one Mary Stewart novel ('Rose Cottage'), I don't think I've read the other authors you mentioned, so thank you. I have heard of Victoria Holt, just never read any of her books.

I hope you've had a great weekend!

Debbie

1199510 Hi Carrie,

Thank you for sharing your Gothic book shelves. I don't know much about Southern Gothic or family sagas, so I'll be sure to take a look. :-)

Carrie wrote: "Nathaniel Hawthorne and the Bronte sisters for classic.

My favorite sub-genres (to read and write) are Southern Gothic and Gothic family saga.

I keep a Gothic shelf for the books I've read:

1199510 Thank you for creating this group, L.B.

I do love the classics, and like Carrie, the Brontes are a favourite. And I completely agree about ghosts! Any story with a ghost always grabs my attention. ;-)

I'm looking forward to the discussions, and discovering authors both new and old.
