When I reach the apartment I share with my best friend Samantha, I can hear the music playing from inside her bedroom. That is not weird considering she loves to blare her music. I'm convinced that she only does it to drive our neighbors crazy. I proceed to my bedroom which is only down the hallway from hers and hang my keys on the hook on the inside of my bedroom door. I kick off my shoes and change into pajama bottoms. I fling my hair up into a ponytail and exit my room, on my way to the kitchen. I start dancing to the beat of the music coming from Samantha's room, which now has its door wide open. I continue into the kitchen not paying attention to my surroundings until I hear someone clear their throat. I let out a startled yip and spin around.
Standing before me is the guy from the restaurant, with my roommate wrapped around him. He doesn't seem the least bit fazed by seeing me but I know my mouth is hanging open and my eyebrows are almost touching my hairline. Samantha has not taken her eyes off of him since I walked in and she is staring at him with pure admiration written clearly on her face. I quickly changed my facial expression to one of which I hoped was indifference before calling out to her. "Sam?" I say loudly, trying to draw her attention from him to me. After what seemed like forever, and has me convinced she didn't hear me, she does slowly turn her face to look at me.
"Lily? What are you doing at home?" She sounds genuinely confused as she stares at me over the counter top that separates the kitchen and living area. She slowly moves away from the guy and looks slightly ashamed. She always brings guys home but hated when I caught them. I take a moment to take in her appearance before answering. Her hair is pulled into a ponytail that has slumped sideways on her head, she is wearing his shirt, and her wrists have red marks circling them.
"Well I do live here." I take my eyes off her and let them fall to her playmate. "Who's this?" I question, tilting my head softly to the side, as if examining a foreign object. I can see his eyes light up but he restrains himself from making any comment.
