118739 When Mr. Taylor recited the bible passage on p. 49 I immediately related to it and can see why they named the book after it.

Being from the hood, for someone who has spent their youth planning and working towards becoming educated and "making it out", much of your life really is based on hoping for the unseen. Things like becoming educated, making good money (legally), and living in a good neighborhood all seem pretty surreal. Your biggest goals in life are based on things that you have literally never/rarely seen with your own eyes.

This is evident when Cedric has the conversation with LaTisha about wanting to go to a big-name college like MIT, even though he knows practically nothing about it or what life is like there. He's literally hoping/working for something he's never seen because that's all he has to hope for.
