50x66 I really enjoy the Hunger Games! And I am not just saying that because the movie was amazing.

One of the things that I enjoyed most about the book was that Collins broke typical gender stereotypes, and made Katnis a character who was self-sufficient and stubborn and the hero. Katnis is the ultimate anti-damsel-in-distress, and has so many admirable characteristics. Seeing little girls run around being Katnis (or even Mereda from Brave) is really empowering for those girls, who get to explore a powerful female.

Colins also opened up a whole new wave of dystopian novels, which is both good and bad. However, although I feel like a lot of novels are not worth the time, getting people to read around a subject that they enjoy is never a bad thing. Dystopian novels are a great way to talk about power and government, and what happens when too much control is given to a small group of people.

I love Hunger Games.

50x66 I am reading Ready Player One by Ernest Cline.

My book is dystopian, sci-fi/fantasy, explores social issues, action/adventure, and is a little bit of a mystery!

Dystopian: because my book primarily takes place in a virtual reality, the worldview that the virtual society possess has been created and reinforced by the creators of the game.

Sci-Fi/Fantasy: my book takes place in a virtual world, so everything that the charter does is through his computer. As well, many characters choose not to be humans in the virtual world, and interact with monsters, trolls, and other things that are not real outside of the game.

Social issues: the reason that the virtual world is created is because humans have basically destroyed the earth, and it is hard for anyone to happily survive. Many people are employed through the virtual world because there is not enough jobs on earth for everyone.

Action/adventure: Wade's (my protagonist) mission is to go on a journey to find the missing puzzles that the creator of the game has left behind. Once he starts to be successful in his hunt and finds the first puzzle piece, many other people start watching him and want to hurt him in order to beat him to the prize.

Mystery: Wade must find where the other pieces of the puzzle are, which have been very well concealed in the virtual reality.
