OMG that was SO long I'm so sorry oops; the main point is: Yes, you should absolutely get a kindle
YES! I've had my kindle for about 7 years or so and I absolutely love it <3 Kindle screens are different from iPad/phone screens, they're meant to be read off of and don't hurt your eyes (I actually don't have scientific proof just speaking from experience). They also have settings where you can customize brightness and color. There's many perks to getting a kindle such as getting ebooks. The main reason I love my kindle is Kindle Unlimited which is a subscription you can get on amazon and allows you to read as many books as you want that they have rather than buying each book you want to read. (not all books are on kindle unlimited though). There're many different types of kindles I personally have the Kindle Oasis. Kindle battery lasts a long time and is overall very convenient and easy to carry around. You can also connect your goodreads to your kindle and it would save your highlights to Goodreads, and you can rate books from your kindle itself. Since the books itself are downloaded onto your kindle, you can read them with no internet and they also have an airplane mode setting as well. Sorry this is super duper long but I just love my kindle; I think it's probably the best gift I've ever received. You can also get cute kindle covers to put on your kindle :) Hope this helped even though I'm super biased.
The only negative I see is spending time looking at a screen. (because after all it is a screen and emits light) But this is worth it in my opinion because I'm not rich enough to buy ever book I want to read (lol) and beats the library books that so many other people have touched and are sometimes in bad condition.
