Hi friends,

For Dalkey's very first Backlist of the month, we're going to highlight Deborah Levy's 1999 novel, BILLY AND GIRL. Feel free to leave comments, ask questions, update us on your progress, or tell us if you've read it before and why you love it throughout the month. I think it'll be a great idea if we could all come together on Wednesday 27 November to have a group discussion.

Just to give you all some personal background about why we chose this title: I was once having a long conversation with John O'Brien, our publisher, and he asked me if I had read a book (I truly don't remember what book it was), and I replied that I hadn't. He grinned at me and said, "if we were in a Dalkey meeting 10 years ago, you would've been laughed at." He then told me to grab paper and a pen and he said that he would tell me the top 10 Dalkey books I HAD TO READ. The list, of course, did not stop at number ten, and grew to about 16. BILLY AND GIRL was one of those titles.
