You read whatever you want by that author as long as it's not part of a series. :)

1176148 I finished my picks:
The Riviera House by Natasha Lester A good WWII historical, which I always both love and find stressful.
One Lavender Ribbon by Heather Burch A feel-good romance, also somewhat historical, enjoyed it.
If This Was Happiness A Biography of Rita Hayworth by Barbara Leaming I hadn't realized that she started showing Alzheimer symptoms in her early 40s. YIKES!
Sugar Cookie Murder (Hannah Swensen, #6) by Joanne Fluke One of my favorite series and alas I'm now all caught up...
Leave Out the Tragic Parts A Grandfather's Search for a Boy Lost to Addiction by Dave Kindred My sig other lost a son last summer to addiction, so this was a pretty personal read for me -- I'm somewhere between admiring the author for being able to focus so much on the good things about his grandson and irritated because I **KNOW** the situation was not as easy to get through as this book sometimes makes it sound. Today would have been Michael's 30th birthday. These situations have landmines.

1176148 I was unfamiliar with your last three picks (and I admit, attracted by that flurry of color) -- what a contrast with the Asimov! You'll have good reading in February, methinks.

I pick Mary Kay Andrews for the month of February. Have you read The Newcomer ? It was great!
Enjoy :D"

I've read The Newcomer and loved it. I just read Savannah Breeze this month and laughed out loud. I have Deep Dish up for this read in February, and at least one other if I can carve out the time. Thanks for this pick!
1176148 It reminded me of House too. It's unfortunate how much can depend on luck. When my brother was in his late 30s and having issues climbing stairs, he went to a pulmonologist. He'd been a heavy smoker and expected to hear that he had already developed emphysema. But he lucked into a doctor who was familiar with a genetic issue called Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, which it turns out he has. Who knows how long the real issue would have gone undiagnosed if he had just once been saddled with a "definitive" emphysema diagnosis?

The Perfectly Proper Paranormal Museum (Perfectly Proper Paranormal Museum #1) by Kirsten Weiss My Trip Down the Pink Carpet by Leslie Jordan"

I really liked the "perfectly proper" -- as I recall, I read the four that were out at the time nearly back to back.

Oh, this was easy. Kindness Goes Unpunished (Walt Longmire, #3) by Craig Johnson Kindness Goes Unpunished -- one of my favorite entries in one of my favorite series!

1176148 Post your shelf and your number and I'll pick for you, Martha.

1176148 Michelle, yours just made it onto my TBR. Lindsey, Brennans and Golden are on my list too and I'm hoping to get to them this year. Denise, agree re MJF even though I'm dating myself when I admit I saw him on Family Ties when it was on prime-time!! LOL

1176148 I have the Faricy sitting around here somewhere, Christina, but haven't read it yet. Looking forward to seeing if you like it.

1176148 Joy, I'm picking The Master by Colm Tóibín When Books Went to War The Stories that Helped Us Win World War II by Molly Guptill Manning and A Pale View of Hills by Kazuo Ishiguro for you. Enjoy!

Winter Solstice (10 new)

1176148 I listened to it on audio too (years ago: not sure if it's the same narrator you have) and I also liked it, Laurel. It's a good "listen."

1176148 Finished my last two picks: Off The Grid (Joe Pickett, #16) by C.J. Box which was riveting, and The Last Correspondent by Soraya M. Lane which was set in one of my favorite time periods for historicals, WWII. Great picks this month!
1176148 Ellie, you had two sets of three posted. If you want to go with the first set, I'm choosing Amor Towles for you. I loved "Rules of Civility."

If you would rather read from the second set, I'm choosing Kazuo Ishiguro for you -- I loved "Remains of the Day" and although "Never Let You Go" isn't the kind of thing I'd ordinarily read, it was better than I expected and has really stayed with me.
1176148 Time to pick an author for your partner! Pairs are posted HERE!

Please be sure to let us know what you ended up reading!
1176148 I might have to give that one another look, Denise. :)

My ex-husband, still a good friend, is a die-hard Dolphins fan. And for the last dozen years or more, the dying has been hard indeed, LOL -- somehow made worse by having to measure themselves against a yardstick no other team is saddled with.
