Book a trip to visit Hoover Dam by helicopter!! A very popular day trip, there are a variety of outfitters that schedule trips to hoover Dam daily. The Hoover Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between Nevada and Arizona. Constructed between 1931 and 1936, during the Great Depression, it was dedicated on September 30, 1935, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Its construction was the result of a massive effort involving thousands of workers, and cost over 100 lives.

5. The Cooler


The Cooler is a 2003 American crime drama film starring William H. Macy, Maria Bello, and Alec Baldwin. It follows Bernie (Macy), a casino "cooler", whose mere presence at the gambling tables usually results in a streak of bad luck for the other players. Baldwin and Bello were nominated for Golden Globe Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards for their supporting performances, with Baldwin also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

On a personal note -- my husband and I love this movie!! It is one of our favorites and we bring it up all the time and call people that have bad juju "coolers"! 🤭🤭

With more than 5,000 rooms, the MGM Grand was the largest hotel in the world at the time of its opening. When it opened, the resort's dominant theme was the 1939 MGM film The Wizard of Oz, although such theming would be removed during a two-year renovation that began in 1996.

On a personal note - my husband and I stayed there for ONE NIGHT. He made us switch hotels because it was so big and he didn't feel like walking 10,000 miles to our room! 🙄🙄

Treasure Island is a pirate-themed resort developed by casino owner Steve Wynn, opening on October 26, 1993. Treasure Island was among several family-oriented resorts to open in Las Vegas during the 1990s, taking advantage of the growing tourist demographic. Treasure Island's facade was built with a lagoon containing two pirate ships. Free pirate battles were performed daily for spectators over the next two decades.

🎲🎲 On a personal note, I learned to play Craps about 25 years ago in the Treasure Island Casino. My husband (just dating at the time) and I shot dice for the longest run we’ve ever had. #winning! 🎲🎲

Pools in Las Vegas are resorts in and of themselves!! Poolside drink service, cabanas, and people-watching are all available at the many pools in Las Vegas. Some visitors even choose their hotel based on the pool!! On a personal note, I love to go to the pool at the hotels -- it's my favorite daytime activity inLas Vegas!!

The Rio is a hotel and casino near the Las Vegas Strip and features a Brazilian theme based on Rio Carnival. The Rio opened on January 15, 1990, and was the first all-suite hotel in the Las Vegas Valley. The property struggled during its first two years because of its off-Strip location, but it would eventually thrive.

🙄🙄 On a personal note ~ on my first trip to Vegas I went to the rooftop bar at the Rio. It's really high and I got totally freaked out and had to leave. 🙄🙄

8. Lake Las Vegas


Lake Las Vegas is a 320-acre reservoir in Henderson, Nevada with a 3,592-acre developed area around it. The area is sometimes referred to as the Lake Las Vegas Resort and includes three resorts including the Aston MonteLago Village Resort, the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort, and the Hilton Lake Las Vegas.

On a personal note ~ I've never stayed here, but I did golf there a few times and have been to the casino. It's a beautiful setting!!
