I don’t have this book from NetGalley, but I ordered it from Book of the Month and I’m anxiously awaiting for it to arrive. I was hoping that I would have a miracle and get it on timeto buddy read it with you guys.

Yes, she definitely is very annoying, but she's not the only one. lol

Trisha, LOL I can say ditto to "What on earth?"
(view spoiler)[I have to say that there are several annoying characters for sure! I hope that somehow they become less so but I'm not holding my breath. I think Jem is the most annoying to me.
I was thinking about Gela and his way with a few (as Trisha mentioned) and it made me wonder if those few are being drawn into something Gela has schemed up.
Reading this so far also made me reminisce about my teaching days as well as doing my Masters in Education because I use a lot of group/team assignments. And when I did got my degree I did it online and we had team assignments in every class and some of my team members lived literally on other continents. One guy was in the armed forces and had to find an internet cafe in the early morning hours like 3:00 or something just to meet up with us online, so some of this resonates with me for sure.
I like the name Doodle board because I'd like to say I was Doodling. lol I am just dying to know what's going on! (hide spoiler)]

I was approved so I'll join in!

YAY! I was granted this book so I'll be joining in!

It could really be anyone right n..."(view spoiler)[I have to agree with you on all of this. I think the chicken bone and a jellyfish were an attempt at humor. lol Not so funny but hey. I suspected everyone too and for me the most obvious was potentially Connor for the reason you stated but I also thought that was too obvious. (hide spoiler)]
Elyse wrote: "I'm glad we're all feeling the same way about this one. I'm 45% through and lucky it's short because it's just not very good."Elyse, maybe those in this group feel mostly the same, but I'd like to see how others feel when the finished product comes out. I thought it was better than I thought I would based on all the comments in this group or maybe I liked it more because I'm on vacation. lol

I have both the audiobook and ebook since NetGalley gave me both. I think the footnotes were potentially repetitive, yes, and somewhat annoying; however, I also realize it's an unfinished book so I gave it grace for that. The narrator definitely helped me enjoy the book more since she read the foot notes as they were meant to be, I assume, so I wasn't annoyed by them. I rated it 3.5 and rounded up to 4 stars, probably due to the narrator.

It publishes the end of April, so the la..."Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry I didn't see this message! I did get approved for this one, but I just arrived in Florida yesterday to visit family and so I'm sure it will be slow reading for me. I'll be here for10 days and today we're driving to Alabama to go to Lambert's, home of the "roll throwing." My husband is with me for the first time so I have to take him there to experience it!

That's a good point, Trisha, but I still had to give it 5 stars because of the twists. When I read it, it was earlier than most of the others reading it in this group so I felt like I was commenting to myself. lol I just thought the characters were all so well-developed,
(view spoiler)[everyone was so different and their personalities so varied. I didn't like that Ms. Fairchild got away with the things she did, but at the same time the twists were what made it such a great psychological thriller for me! I am not always looking for justice in a psychological thriller. I'm sorry you didn't like it more. (hide spoiler)]

OMG! I am floored! Finished(view spoiler)[Well, I sure didn't guess who those bones belonged to! I thought it was Amy until we learned that Zara WAS Amy. I can't believe Holly killed her own sister and all out of jealousy. That ending was fast-paced and insane! (hide spoiler)]I love this one so much! Never knew for sure what was going on! Good job, Ms. Hepworth!

Ouf, these girls have been through a lot! and miss Fairchild sounds like a text..."Not a spoiler for you.
(view spoiler)[Not sure how far you are now, but just wait till you see what happens when you get through Ch. 40...you'll be even more curious as I am! I'm off to FINISH it NOW!! lol (hide spoiler)]
Through Ch. 40 - WOW!(view spoiler)[I just had a thought...remember the section where Bianca and Rhianna were called in by the cops to discuss the bones? The Zara came in saying she didn't know what her name was during the time she was at Wild Meadows. Dirk doesn't remember and Amy? Liar! But why? He and Miss Fairchild must both know something! But now I'm wondering if POSSIBLY Zara could be Amy since Amy is missing and nobody knows what Zara's original name was. But IF that were true, then who's bones did they find?
I am so upset that they don't believe the girls about Amy. I mean, how would 3 girls all come up with a story like that and have it just be a doll? And WHY the life size doll named Amy? I have to get to the end! lol (hide spoiler)]

Thanks, Kristie, I don't think I can help but finish it. lol I think you're going to love this one!
Through Ch. 25(view spoiler)[So, it was a baby who whose bones they found? Ugh...Miss Fairchild was AWFUL to the girls, especially Jessica. Making them take over the responsibility of a baby SHE wanted to foster, or should I say get money for taking? She's pretty bad. I can see why Miss Fairchild might've killed a baby or how it could've died from neglect based on her behavior. I don't think Jessica would've killed a baby but I can see how she could've gotten so frustrated with taking care of babies how she could've or inadvertently somehow been responsible. Possibly Norah too...so curious to find out who/what/when/where/why/how! (hide spoiler)]

Kristie, that book was really good too! I hope you enjoy it.
I had started this book early because I had misread when it was going to be archived. I thought I only had 1 day to get it done so I started it, then realized my error and so I waited. Now as I read through this thread I see that everyone was planning to start on the 25th...sorry about that. I've now read over 50% though so not sure if I'll wait 4 days to finish or not. It's really good so far!

I just started it and I'm really liking it! I have another book I have to read today though for a challenge, so I will have to set this one aside until tomorrow. :(
Through Ch. 14 / 32%(view spoiler)[Wow! Darling Girls has taken on a whole new meaning after reading some of what went on (is going on) at the Wild Meadows Foster Home. These girls surely have been through some bad things growing up, right? I felt for Jessica and how much she loved Miss Fairchild and then how she turned so vicious after she got the "new girl." That woman changed her whole attitude towards Jessica and she was so young and needed a good mother figure.
Norah giving Kevin a broken nose then ends up sexting him to save herself from the cops...funny, but not so much in RL!! Poor girl. It seems like both she and Jessica have some issues. Norah's been to jail for her violence and Jessica's stealing pills "here and there"...not good!
I wonder whose bones they found and who is behind it? I'm assuming at this point that someone (or more than one) was murdered. Can't wait to find out! (hide spoiler)]

Through Ch. 15
I, too, am loving this one so far!
(view spoiler)[I get the creepiest vibe from this book, but it's creepy in a good way, if that makes sense. lol I love the small town and though I've never been to "Deadhart" (thankfully lol), I have been to Alaska and some of the sights mentioned. My brother was married in Denali National Park, so I've been there. I obviously have been to Anchorage, a little town called Eagle River (not mentioned in the story). Anyway,
A little side note: Talkeetna is a really small town, and (according to Matadornetwork.com) a 'CAT' is the mayor. lol A cat named Stubbs, so that tells it all.
I was so creeped out by the little girl held captive and I wonder who her captor is and why she's being held. She sounds like a vampyr too. She can't be Athelinda, right? But I think that's a possibility, and maybe set aside from the main part of the story like it took place in a different time? I'm loving all of the little tidbits of info on vamps that we're getting that I've never heard before, so I'm getting a different viewpoint of them and I like that. I like Barbara and how snarky she is and she holds her own...good for her. I don't like how Nicholls seems to not have a lot of respect for her. He seems not to trust her expertise.
Marcus...poor guy. I'm curious to see what Barbara finds out after talking with the two boys and Nathan.
Oh, and I love the nickname of "Fang Doc." lol
I think Tucker is weird and I think he knows something but isn't saying what. And why would Marcus's coat have been hung up on his property? Plus, he found that ring, so I'm a bit suspicious right now. (hide spoiler)]
