SO i finished this book and all i can say is wtfffff -- that scene with Alina waking up to the darkling literally assaulting her..........I'm not ok

This is a board to chat or rant about how Grisha abilities/science is explained in the series...or rather NOT explained. BOOK ONE ONLY**

Let talk...

What are the different categories of Grisha Abilities and how would you describe them in your own words?
Why do some people have these abilities and some don't (is this ever set up in this world? Where these powers come from?)
Describe the dichotomy between the way Grisha and average people/soldiers are treated in this world. Why do you think this is?
What does "like calls to like" mean and how can this theme be applied in other instances outside the explanation of Grisha magic.
Why does Alina struggle to call her power when she is first training?
How does she finally overcome this obstacle?
What changes in Alina once she is able to harness her power?
What is an amplifier? How does it work? Why is it important that the darkling is an amplifier?

LOL ALSO... How can Alina have so much control over her power after only training for a short period of time, when the other Grisha have been training their entire lives? She just DECIDES that she can use her power and she just DECIDES that she will be in control her amplifier (even though the rule of an amplifier is that it belongs to the person who kills it??? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.)

Please add any other questions or thoughts on abilities only up to book one so far.

I JUST FINISHED READING THIS BOOK!

Hello everyone, I have just finished re-reading this book and let me just say, it felt like I was reading this for the first time. I love that I was taken by the plot twists AGAIN.

There are so many things that I want to rant about and I feel like I need to make a video about this, but let me just say that this was so much steamier than I remember.

ALSO why was I so trusting of The Darkling when I knew some SHIT was about to go down. I fell prey to the fuckboi manipulation right along with Alina. Page 221....GIRL.

Anyway, this is just my general random post to say that I have completed the first book and I'd love to chat with you all about it.
