1151188 Oh my gosh finallyy! Tysm for this! I read El Filibusterismo a year ago because I was eager to see what the 19th century was like in my country and how it differs or is alike to other countries (and also my Filipino teacher said that we would be tackling it in our grade). Anyways, it is poetic and very much commendable, I suppose you could compare it to Les Miserables (which I have watched but haven't read) because of the Reoccuring themes for freedom and independence coupled with romance and crime. In addition, I found social demographics fascinating like how the Chinese were treated and the way the upper class fussed about European history. It's also pretty cool to a country that I live on through hundreds of text-filled pages.

I'm agreeing with how the same... the exact same books and authors are on the media, as if they are scared to try something new, or perhaps they do it for the attention.

I never heard of Henry James but thanks for the warning so I'm less likely going to try one of his books out >-<. Ohh and yeah, unhealthy relationships ARE digusting, most specially if it's in YA and it makes teens think that it's "romantic".

1151188 I think that books worthy of rereading would be something that packs tons of something to be learned like morals and facts in between the story.

So mine are:
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Tbh, I did not reread Little Women fully, I tend to read small parts of it and I think I only read a tinsy section of The Little Prince.

(PS; I am aware that both books contains the word "Little" HAHAHAHA)

1151188 Any unpopular opinions? I feel like people are diverse and the internet preasures us to be a species of great monotony, so here's a topic for that. I've seen this on IG and thought it would be fun to do something here!

Just a reminder, people will naturally disagree with opinions that the book community agrees with. I think that positive, and healthy debate is beneficial but please remember to maintain respect for other people and that we are all different.

And so the following sentences that I will say might make people mad...

I don't really like Jane Austen's writting, I much prefer other authors, probably because as someone born in the 21st century, it seems a bit too dated to think that marriage is really really important that one's life is dedicated to it, in particular a woman's. In coherence of me not liking popular books would be the Harry Potter Series. I admire how the mystery unravels and how there are houses and such, however, I find it overrated like Hogwarts is quite gloomy, resulting in my only reading the first two. I'll probably give these a try sometime though bc tons of people love these and share your advice to appreciate these works of art.

How about you guys?
