I do like Jane Austen. I did watch the movie adaptations first, so when I read the books I like thinking of the characters in the movies. And I find myself deciding which movie adaptation I like more. For me, I think seeing the movies first helped me stay with the books. I have enjoyed every Jean Austen. I’m trying to read some of the classics and some are totally boring to me. Others I like. I am really enjoying Anthony. But I have many classics that I have started to read but can’t finish. I agree that there probably is a lot of literature politics involved in supporting authors. I like reading books that are not well known as some of them are very very good.
I finished and I loved it! Great, happy ending for almost all of the characters. This book has stayed with me and I keep thinking about the story lines. I really got lost in this book imagining what life would be like for Lydia. When I go to sleep I’ve been listening to it again. It’s like white noise for me but before I fall asleep and if I wake up in the night I get to listen. I am enjoying it the second time around as well.
I am with you Jennifer! I have about 3 1/2 more hours to go in the audible book and I am loving it. I really like Charley in the “present” story and also Lydia and her family in the “historical” story. I am enjoying the French pronunciation, you are right about that, but I’m not sure how to spell any of the names, lol. I also have learned a lot about the antique business and the shipbuilding business, so there’s something about each of the stories that is really educational and fascinating. I keep wanting to skip forward to the end, but I am not going to do it. I am definitely going to look into more historical fiction books. I hope to finish in the next couple of days and post again by next weekend.
Moonflower Murders by Anthony Horowitz, The Guest List by Lucy Foley, A Murder is Announced by Agatha Christie, Ocean Prey by John Sanford, and The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley.

It is a Great Course! I joined an Ancient History group and I’m trying to gain some foundational knowledge. I also love BBC shows and have watched so many that I am recognizing the actors from other shows!
I just finished A Murder of Quality by John le Carre. I enjoyed it very much, but English mysteries are some of my favorite books. I’m also reading O is for Outlaw by Sue Grafton. I reread Grafton frequently, but somehow I’ve only read this one once many years It goes into detail about the character’s past life, which interests me. And last but not least is I’m listening to The Joy of Ancient History on audible.com.

I second Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. I have wanted to read it for a long time and finally bought it as an audiobook.
Hello, my name is Myra and I am recently retired. I have joined several Goodreads groups because I have more time to read. I am also an introvert. People think I’m odd because I’m happy going to lunch by myself and reading a book for two hours while I eat. I like the monthly groups because I learn so much from other people’s comments. I look forward to some interesting books and having some fun chatting about them.
