Hello everyone, for the month of July 2021, we are having several different challenges at the same time.
The original ideas for these were suggested by Niharika when our group hit 700+ members, and we had promised to implement it in July. The credit for the main ideas goes to her, but we mods modified the ideas to make it work effectively, as we are a much larger group than we were then. :) Thank you so much for that, we really appreciate it!
We’d also like to give credit to The Midnight Readers as they were the first ones to start the ‘Twin Reads Challenge’, and the credit to the name also goes to them, though we are making some changes from their original challenge.
The first part to this 3 part challenge, is the twin reads challenge. In this challenge, two people will be paired up together to read books of their choice. To keep it fair, we’ll also be asking you to mention your preferred genres of reading while signing up, so that you can be paired with someone who has similar reading tastes. We will be allotting your team member.
Here are the rules for the challenge-
The team can read a book from the following options.
1. It can be a standalone book of any genre.
2. It can be published between 2010-2020.
3. The pair can decide a particular author to read from.
4. The pair can read a classic.
5. It can be with a black and white cover.
Books that won’t fit these categories won’t be counted. The reason for these rules is to keep the books chosen more precise.
The pairs will be expected to read books from these particular options. You don’t have to fit all of the prompts, just one of them is enough. We recommend reading books from the public domain so they are accessible to everyone.
Point System
Completing each book gets +20 points.
We are including points for the page count-
Books between 100-200 pages will have +10 points
Books between 201-300 pages will have +20 points
Books between 301-400 pages will have +30 points
Books between 401-500 pages will have +40 points
Books between 501-600 pages will have +50 points
And so on. Books below 100 pages will not count.

Okay :)

sign up name- doree"
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

You need to sign up with a name that has 5 letters. It can be your real name, or a pet name. However, if you want a longer name, you can do that too. (Rules on that later)
After signing up, you need to write a book or an author’s name or surname that starts with the same letters. ‘A’, ‘An’ and ‘The’ don’t count. Books below 100 pages don’t count.
For eg, mine would be Bhavya-
B- (The) Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
H- Heartstopper: Volume One
A- Becky Albertalli- Kate in Waiting
V- V.E. Schwab- A Gathering of Shadows
Y- Adrienne Young- Namesake
A- Victoria Aveyard- Realm Breaker
And so on.
Each letter you complete gets you +50 points.
If you do a name longer than 5 letters, then you get +10 points with each additional letter you do. For eg, my name ‘Bhavya’ has 6 letters so I get +10 bonus points if I read the books for the 6th letter, along with the original 50 points for completing a book.
For completing the same name with different books each time, you’ll get a bonus of +10. This means that if you finish all 5 letters (or more) for your name, you will get +10 points.
If you finish all the letters in your name and still have time for the challenge left, you can start again and read different books with the same letters. For finishing your name more than once, you’ll get bonus +50 bonus points, excluding the 50 for completing each letter.
For eg, if I finish all the above books for my name and want to do more, I could read Blood Heir for the letter ‘B’ etc. for all the other letters. Doing the letter B will get me 50 points, and if I continue to finish all the letters in my name again, I’ll get +50 points.
The one with the most points wins.
Point System
+50 for each letter.
+10 for every additional letter.
+10 for completing all the letters in your name.
+50 for each completing your name more than once
How to log the books?
You’ll be provided an individual log after signing up. Log your books there in this format-
