I once received a bad review for a short story I wrote...by someone who didn't even read it. She said that she didn't read the story after seeing the character's royal title. Of course I was upset, but I learned a lot from that one review. Every reader is different and some people will shut you down before you even get started. But if you write because you love it, and tell the stories you want to tell, then you will do just fine.
