114553 Then it's nice for as long as it lasts :)
114553 Suze, it's great. Thank you so much. It means a lot. And they all count xxxx

PS: It's lovely to see a pic of you. How nice to put a face to a name :)
114553 Yeah, TH4 has certainly been really well received which I'm delighted about. :)

And yep, she's four. I'll be honest, she's a dream child. I'm enormously proud of her.

And any review is great. And yes, that little Kindle device is still the best tool on the market. I still use my old one. I won't buy a Kindle Fire etc. Far too much like a tablet for my liking.
114553 Hiya, Suze. :) Great to hear from you. Yeah, I've kept my head down lately trying to finish this book, but I'm going to be around more from now on. Anyway, I'm doing well. Alice is four now, going on fourteen. She can spell 'because' which is more than half my students can do (I'm a lecturer in the real world).

How's you anyway? What have I missed? Any goss?

Thanks for linking the other books. I rarely mention them any more. And I do really like 'Bernard', it's such a personal story for me.

And I'll eagerly await that review. I was nervous about this last book, but it seems to have been going down well

114553 Thanks so much, Andrew. I'm pleased you enjoy it. I have soft spot for Book 2 - I think it's because it's got an underwater car. Receiving a toy Lotus Esprit when I was eight (James Bond's car from 'The Spy who Loved Me') was one of my great memories of my childhood :)
114553 Ha. There was always a book 5. :)

Here's a question for you - after reading the TH books, particularly number 4, can you guess what story I'm moving on to after the TH books are finished?
114553 You are so very sweet, Kath. :)

And you have always understood what I've tried to do with the series. Unlike most children's series there is an intentional shift in tone with each book. The first one is frothy, innocent fun (with the slightest hint of darkness). By Book 4 things have got both emotionally and thematically more complex, whilst hopefully retaining some of the charm of the first book. That has been one of the hardest things to achieve when crafting the books - that balance.

Book 5 is different again. But I'm hoping it won't be all doom and gloom. It is the final one, after all. Saying that, it will be explosive - both literally and metaphorically :) xxx
114553 Hi all,

I'd just like to say a big hello to the community. And if I may I'd like to introduce you to my TH series.

'The Time Hunters' - myBook.to/TheTimeHunters

'The Time Hunters and the Box of Eternity'- myBook.to/TimeHunters2Box

'The Time Hunters and the Spear of Fate' - myBook.to/timeHunters3spear

and the NEWLY RELEASED (14.4.14)

'The Time Hunters and the Sword of Ages' - myBook.to/TH4TimeHuntSword

Here's the blurb for the first book:

Becky and Joe Mellor are invited to stay for the summer with their reclusive Uncle Percy at his stately home. What they don’t realise is that he is a time traveller and shares his home with a baby Triceratops, two Sabre-tooth tigers and the mythic hero, Will Scarlet. Soon, they become embroiled in a murder mystery and a quest through time to find the legendary Golden Fleece.

The TH books combine fact with fiction, truth with conjecture, myth with reality in a thrilling series that promises a fun-filled romp for children of all ages.

They are amongst the most critically acclaimed children's books on Amazon and have been described as 'the natural successor to Harry Potter'.

I hope you might check them out.

Many thanks for reading this,
Carl

114553 Can I just mention that I am giving away a signed copy of 'The Time Hunters and the Spear of Fate' on the Giveaways section of Good reads this month. :)

114553 Ha. I don't see him in tights. Just very big socks :)

But thanks for the commendation, Frenchie. It means a lot. xxx

If there was a film I'd like Colin Firth to play Uncle Percy. Saying that, an older Benedict Cumberbatch would also do the job.

As for Emerson Drake - well, I don't know. Ken Branagh, maybe?

114553 Hello all,

As I write about a magical universe, I thought I'd mention my series The Time Hunters.

Here's the premise:

Becky is a typical thirteen year old girl. She likes Facebook, gossiping and plenty of sleep. So when she and her brother, Joe, are invited to stay with their 'loony' Uncle Percy at his stately home, she thinks it’ll be the worst summer ever. What she doesn't realise is that Bowen Hall is also home to a baby Triceratops, two Sabre-tooth tigers and the mythic hero, Will Scarlet...

'The Time Hunters' is a thrilling adventure that takes Becky, Joe, Uncle Percy and Will on a quest through time to find the legendary Golden Fleece.

The Clock is ticking....

There are two other books in the series The Time Hunters and the Box of Eternity and The Time Hunters and the Spear of Fate. I'm currently working on number 4 'The Time Hunters and the Sword of Ages.'

Many thanks, and I look forward to meeting some of you.

Carl
