114553 So, at the risk of offending most of the previous posters, I don't like it when people object to particular phrases or words, that are either good English, or have become perfectly acceptable spoken English. This is the great thing about languages, that they're flexible and can evolve, right?

Any time I read one of these types of threads, I cringe, because I use a lot of these phrases - they have just become good communication tools. "At the end of the day" can be used instead of "to summarise", but I'm hardly likely to use the latter in a discussion with your average Joe.

Having said that...unnecessary usage of text speak is irritating. Don't say lol, and don't spell it out for me either. Grr!
