You have a wide interest Pete - and an awesome-sounding job. I hope you can get back into it sooner vs. later. I love a good nonfiction read - I learn so much.

I thought the It movie remake was excellent!

Hmmm - sometimes he ends up in a weird plotline - and his endings sometimes don't work much for me.

I need to read The Dark Tower series - or at least start with The Gunslinger. I hear it has a very famous first line.

I meant to read Sun Down last month or so but couldn't get to it quite yet. Glad you liked it.

Ah - The Institute - a new one from him. And set in my Twin Cities I see - interesting.
1128629 An article in the local paper: (I think you can just bypass the ad/popup.)

Do you agree? Do you love recommendations or try and stay away from the whole topic? Give and/or take? Does it just depend? How careful do you think one should be (if at all?) Does it even matter what comes of a recommendation made?

1128629 Which one Ulyssicia???

I think his last book I read was Joyland which was more of a mystery, but I loved it with 5 stars. I have many of his on my TBR.

Better late than never I say. And I also say you should get The Cove read in 2020 also, if possible. ;)

Keep us posted on The Nazi Officer's Wife!

1128629 I'm currently listening to Under the Dome (I've heard the TV miniseries wasn't the greatest) by the horror master himself - and although not truly what I would consider horror, it is classic Stephen King. I mainly chose this book to read in October to go along with the spooky theme.

Has anyone else read it? What else have your read that fits this genre?

Glenn - the only one I've read here is Gone Girl - and have been meaning to watch the movie. I'll have to check out your other two recommendations (and on to the TBR they go....).

Edit: The Door is already on my TBR. Giving it a bump up now. ;)

1128629 Hi Janice - thanks for the interest in Serena! It's what I'm reading right now and it's page turning for me. I too, have owned my copy (forever) so am glad I am finally getting to it now. Please join in whenever you can and we can share our thoughts on it! Have you read The Cove?

The Nazi Officer's Wife is also on my TBR! Is it good??? I note it has a 4.16 rating on GR.
1128629 The Mars Room is on my TBR. Let me know what you think. My TBR is huge so I need an extra push to get to a book sometimes.
1128629 Tell us what's upcoming on your list!

For me - to finish on audio Under the Dome! Also I am really liking Serena.

I will also be reading The Rent Collector and Wintering.

Who knows? Maybe we'll find buddy read partners through this posting.

Has anyone read her new one already? I've actually read three of her novels.

I also really like Lisa Genova. The topics though! I love her style though, and bringing attention/awareness to all of these horrible diseases.

I hope you do Mindaugas - sounds like a lovely dream. I enjoy books about books/bookstores, or even a component of the book. The Shadow of the Wind was a knockout as was Three Junes.

Hi Ulyssicia! You must have a hard/stressful job at times - I can relate as an insurance adjuster. Reading is definitely a form of self care - but some books have been more enjoyable than others! Plus, if it's hard subject matter it can be somewhat stressful to me. :)

Hi Sandra! You've come a long way. I've never moved out of state. Yet. Your avatar/picture looks super familiar - I must see you around GR a lot, maybe in some other groups. Looking forward to talk books with you! I have vowed to read a few classics per year. Let me know what you've enjoyed.

I bring a book everywhere! Am out now with a laptop just so I see who has joined in my new group!
