112012 Applause for what you wrote of the definitive aspect of The Guide and this seems especially apropos for you to write and me to read, today, which is John Locke's birthday. (Happy #381!!) Thanks to your book's succinct rendering of Locke, I now have a much better understanding of it. Perhaps your book will supplant The Guide, or become a 3rd edition of sorts. !!!

I did not know that Adams foresaw the use of (or total dependence on) mobile phones. I read that he named Magrathea after Margaret Thatcher but that was the extent of my supplemental knowledge.

Thank you for the links to Stanford and your patient primer on philosophy. I will reread the portions of your book which you suggest. Gratitude also for your optimistic forecast that "the" mind in general and my mind in particular, may, indeed, be a physical entity after all. Tangibility gives me hope!! :)

112012 Wow! Thank you so much for your reply! I have spent a fun night reading your book, which I ordered right after I read your comment. I am not finished with your book but I am having fun! I kinda thought learning played a big role in the novel b/c of the many references to The Guide throughout the book. Do you think that today, The Guide is ably represented by the Internet?

I am really intrigued when I read your statement "learning is a topic that belongs more to psychology than philosophy." Maybe more folks should read your book, b/c people are always referencing their "learning philosophy."

112012 Is the topic of learning addressed in THHGTTG and, if so, how? I love this book!
