Writing is always a form of therapy to me. It is cathartic and freeing in a way that just talking isn't. We can never tell what hides deep into someone's soul, but whatever that is, it has shaped them.
And I wish that mental health issues had less of a stigma around it, because then people might seek help sooner and more often.
But I think, and hope, that collectively we are making strides in the right direction, and organizations like RAINN are making a difference.

He didn't make a very good first impression. Dylan comes out as being judgmental and cold, but he had his reasons.
Being a young handsome professor in a university made him a target of some unwanted female attention, so he always kept that cool, aloof persona as a layer between him and the students.
You didn't get to see this, but it was one of his reasons.

So far I'm loving Becca and the mysterious Dylan..."
Hope you'll love them as much as I do.

I'm more curious to know after all the time you spent researching the trauma and hardships how rewarding was it to h
get to write..."
Oh gosh, I was giddy happy to give Becca the perfect guy. But more important than finding someone who loved her as she deserved to be loved, I wanted her to find her own value and learn to love herself. That was what I wanted most for Becca. Dylan is a very nice bonus, and someone who was in a position to understand Becca better than anyone else. But Becca had to learn to love herself first.
I've learned a lot in the process of writing this book. Both about trauma, PTSD and myself. Giving Becca her happy ending was the most satisfying of all of my books.
Thank you for asking this question.
