Oh that's great, thanks Juliette. Then let's start with a true classic :o)

Feel free to vote for as many books as you like on the poll. Only thing asked for is that you are willing to participate in the discussion if the one you voted for wins.

1108310 Oh my, I feel bad for breaking this topic a bit but I just have to tell you that I just watched a movie yesterday and wished it was a book :o)) It's "The grand piano" with Elijah Wood and I just thought that all this angst, pure fear an horror could have been described so much better in writing and was so difficult to transport with, well basically just close ups of Elijah's face.
Good thing was, the movie made me listen to classical piano music again.

1108310 Hi Juliette, the level is fine; nothing too complicated. In fact the most complicated thing were all the names. I am so bad in remembering all the character‘s names right from the beginning, especially when they come with relationship and family bonds :o)
You might want to check if you can have a look in the book on Amazon, but I can also send you picture later on Discord ;o)
Whenever possible I try to read the original version, since I want to feel the atmosphere the author wanted to create. So much gets lost or altered with translations :o(

1108310 I suggest A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. Everyone is full of praise for it and it's waiting on my book shelf since last year. Somehow I still think it would be a great summer's read, so maybe you'd be interested in that story?

When four classmates from a small Massachusetts college move to New York to make their way, they're broke, adrift, and buoyed only by their friendship and ambition. There is kind, handsome Willem, an aspiring actor; JB, a quick-witted, sometimes cruel Brooklyn-born painter seeking entry to the art world; Malcolm, a frustrated architect at a prominent firm; and withdrawn, brilliant, enigmatic Jude, who serves as their center of gravity.

Over the decades, their relationships deepen and darken, tinged by addiction, success, and pride. Yet their greatest challenge, each comes to realize, is Jude himself, by midlife a terrifyingly talented litigator yet an increasingly broken man, his mind and body scarred by an unspeakable childhood, and haunted by what he fears is a degree of trauma that he’ll not only be unable to overcome—but that will define his life forever.

1108310 Hi there, I am happy you found this page. It was set up out of some conversations I had with some wonderful ladies on a Discord chat. Yeah, I am way over 40 but still very deep into fanfiction, just as some of my best friends. Nevertheless we also love to read "real books" and wanted to have a place to discuss them and recommend books to each other. That's how this thing started ;o)
Other than that I'm a working mom, passionate gardener and binge watcher (hence the section "Books into Movies"). Can't wait for all your insoirations to help me reading more real books again :o) *written while the 200.000 words fanfic is still open on my mobile... *

1108310 The Authors Folder is a place where members of our group who are also authors can advertise their books, among other things.

If you are an author, you can:

Advertise a book you have out.

Post a snippet of the book, such as a few paragraphs, the first chapter, etc.

Host a giveaway. *Note: If you would like to host a giveaway, please place the topic in the 'Giveaway!' folder, NOT the Authors Folder.

If there's something you don't understand or something you would like to do that isn't mentioned, please comment below and I'll get back to you.
