I agree, Scott. The grandfather's death had such a significant, powerful impact on Jacob, and then he didn't seem too conflicted about never seeing his parents again. He was remorseful about his dad not seeing him, but really didn't seem to care much about anyone else. One other thought I had: if I were engaged in a conversation about which super power I'd most desire, bring able to see bad guys wouldn't make the list.

The characters were relatable and interesting even if a few of the peculiars (that feels derogatory) were a bit one-dimensional. The photos didn't do too much for me since he described each of them before they appeared on the page, but then I realized they were all unaltered found photos. That's pretty cool. Overall, I think the students and staff will enjoy the read.
