To answer this one properly, you'll have to think about why Golding (the author) chose Simon out of all his characters to be the one. Why not Piggy? Why not Jack?

Well, he definitely has changed. I'll let you say how and why.

I'll leave this one to the class!

It's an interesting statement that no-one in the book pays much attention to. It's clearly put there by the author to alert us - the reader - to this idea.

Re-read p49 of the eBook to get some help on this one.

This is for after you have read Chapter 3. The words savagery and civilisation are opposites. 'Savagery' refers to wildness and lack of order.

Again, I'll leave this up to the class! Remember to use the page numbers from the eBook shared on Google Classroom.

I have a pretty good idea, but I'm going to leave this to the class this time. If you wish to write about another symbol from Chapter 1, you can do that.

I think it is horrible, but not unsurprising. Even the fact that it is decided to call him a derogatory name based on his appearance is fairly typical of adolescent behaviour, especially among boys (and men!) Sadly, it's not hard to believe the realism of this treatment of Piggy, whose real name never gets revealed in the whole text.

I have started reading it. I am also listening to the
audiobook version on YouTube.
Catch-22Amazon: 4.3 stars
Goodreads: 3.98 stars
I think this is a low rating from both sources. It's a classic novel that satirises the futility of war and the politics of the military. I would give it at least 4.5 stars.

I'm reading an autobiography of former AFL footballer Bob Murphy, and I think someone like Ben Mendelsohn would be great for current Bob. Not sure about younger Bob.

The theme of POWER is evident in 'Lord of the Flies' because of the way that some of the characters jostle for control of the group, whilst others seem fine to be told what to do.

Identity. Jin's search for who he is, and being comfortable with that, is central to this narrative.

Even though it's a bit confusing at first, I like that it's consistent. 3x3x3.

My favourite character is the Monkey King because I like how the author uses his journey to represent Jin Wang's.

Chapter 4 because of the action and twist in the second part of the Monkey King story.
