Also, YES, the love triangle was handled so well? I feel like it's so hard to give that trope a new and appropriate spin and Kacen made it work so well? I'm so excited for their polyamorous book after this, honestly.
Did anyone see Austin coming? Because I sure as hell did NOT.

As our first read-along comes to an end, we're getting ready to write up our experience with the first "session" of The Nerd Daily Book Club for the website and now we need you guys :)
When we told Kacen about our book club and asked them about possible discussion questions, they wanted us to each state one thing about ourselves that we love because in their eyes, that's the most important message of Felix Ever After - loving yourself! And we of course want to honor that suggestion and put YOUR replies into the wrap-up article on thenerddaily.com!
So, I ask you guys, what is one (or more) thing(s) you love about yourself?
Don't be shy, don't hesitate - whether it's your sexy ass, the crinkle by your eyes or the snort you make when you laugh as loud as you can - nothing's off the table (also, scratch that first one because whoohey, I did not mean to objectify anyone lol). It can be whatever you want it to be, the way you see the world, that ambition you never really want to show or how much you love and care about your friends - if it's something you love about yourself, we want to hear it!
Please make sure to tell me whether you'd like to be mentioned by name in the article (and if we should include your socials like instagram in which case I'd need your handle/any link you want to be mentioned ;) ) or remain anonymous. Either way, we just want to show some appreciation for how much fun it has been to discuss Felix Ever After with you guys and commemorate our experience!
All the (self-)love,
Simone and Mimi

Also, the MCU mentions felt so natural! I've read a lot of books that try to incorporate pop culture references and it's so jarring?? But here it felt so natural to who they all are as characters.
And I just want to get grandequeen69 blocked, deleted and off the planet.

and I definitely agree, what makes these characters so real is that they're not just good or bad, they seem to just be as messy as we all are (except for Marisol. We do not like Marisol. That girl needs to exit stage left). And I get what you're all saying about Declan - I feel like it would be so boring if he was just this 'villain' who is responsible for everything - I kind of like that even though he and Ezra didn't work out, we still get to see a glimpse of the guy that Ezra fell in love with!
I can't even begin to imagine what Felix is going through in most of the situations he finds himself in but yeah, you guys have a point, sometimes it's suuuuper frustrating watching him say and do things that aren't the best. But again - we all mess up, right? I still love him so much.

I’m super late with my introduction - sorry about that!

so happy you're joining us, Mary!! and it's never too late to join! :)

That line "You don't get to use my pain to make your point."
Oof. I actually had to put down my kindle when I read that because it just resonated so much with me. So often, especially in arguments, people will use what they did to you or what has happened to you as a way to prove that they're not in the wrong and reading about Felix and Declan's fight was just. Hard. Kacen really went there with that quote.
And I completely agree on the Dad issues. I can see how hard he is trying to be the best parent he can be to Felix and sometimes, people fall short and that's okay. I feel like their relationship adds so much to the story, though, because it shows how hard transitioning can be on family as well but when all is said and done, Felix's dad is always on his side and that means a lot!
I was also definitely frustrated with Felix a lot of times - I think that's what made me so engrossed in his character, though - he is MESSY AF, he fucks up, he is sometimes incredibly selfish and just thinks about himself but that's also an amazing starting point for potential development so I think that was set up really well!
Also....I mean, I can totally admit that I used to have a crush on Disney's Robin Hood when I was a kid :D It was my favorite movie and I was just so infatuated with him - everyone was always after the princes in the movies and here I was, having the premature hots for a fox :D

The whodunnit part of it all is probably one of my favorite things about this novel - the tension is just so high and I was dying to find out who would hurt Felix like that :(
What do we all think about Felix and Ezra's friends circle? Not to mention Felix's dad?

Damn, I was confused for a moment there when I read "grab a vegan", I was like, cool are we getting assigned vegans now? :D
But now I really want some vegan cookies - Nicole's got the right idea, if this was a physical book club, we could all sit around, eat vegan cookies (ehem..drop the recipes pls) and nerd out!

I would cross the Seven Seas for him. I would sacrifice myself for him. I would give up chocolate for Ezra. (okay, that last one was a lie)

also please raise your hand if you think that Ezra needs to be protected at all costs. Cinnamon roll, so innocent, so pure :D

I am Clau (@migrantwords on bookstagram if you didn’t know😇) and this is my first group on Goodreads and my first Book Club ever!

Hi, Clau! Yay for joining us - we hope your first book club experience will live up to your expectations ;)
Keeping all our fingers and toes and whatever else crossed that your copy arrives ASAP so you can experience Felix in all of his glory!
And hey, you're not alone! I haven't been able to stomach a horror movie in over a decade! Watching the House of Wax as a kid really fucked me up. I still get nightmares, so no scary things for me, either, haha.

amazon is mean and doesn't want you to have fun!! :D in all honesty, though, you'll catch up asap, it's just such an addictive book! :)

Hey Alina, so glad you're joining us! And if you ever...you know...would like to...show us some pictures of Matisse..that would be...swell (did this come across as too obsessed with dogs or did I make it sound like a natural request? I think I pulled it off, no doubt, no doubt). Hope we can live up to your expectations of what a book club should be like - any requests and tips are always welcome!

Nicole!! Join the coffee addiction group (we don't help.AT.ALL. If anything, we will encourage you to drink more coffee, let's be honest)! And I have to second Simone's reaction here - AN ANNUAL DISNEYLAND PASS? My envy is as big as Gaston's ego at hearing this! And a fellow fan of America's ass (yes, sorry, this is not suited for work content) is always welcome! Thanks for giving us a chance <3

My reading tastes are about as haphazard and diverse as my music tastes - so I basically read everything from new adult romances to middle-grade contemporaries with a heavy dash of YA added into the mix!
Unlike Simone, I'm too weak to do anything about my coffee addiction (kudos to her, right?) because I'm a Gilmore Girl at heart and without coffee, my brain does not form the words and string the sentences together and - you get it.
I am so excited to get to know you guys and freak out with you about all the phenomenal books we are going to read! <3

We thought it would be a stellar idea to celebrate this stunner of a cover by recreating it - with all of your help, of course!
All throughout the month, we'll share your beautiful recreations on The Nerd Daily's Insta Stories (so don't forget to add your handle if you want a shoutout!) and at the end of our buddy-read, we'll feature your self-portraits in our wrap-up on thenerddaily.com!
So get those crayons, pens, glitter and glue out (or use whatever strikes your fancy - snowmen have taught us that carrots make for compelling noses) and show us your gorgeous selves!
Lots of love,
Simone and Mimi
