107871 For next month I was thinking of reading something of a darker nature, being the month of Halloween and all. Do people have a preference between horror/thriller (fiction) and true crime (non-fiction)? I have been looking at titles and the True Crime books seem to be more factual in nature, which may be a little harder to read, I am not sure.

107871 Speaking to the aspects of the relationships I personally felt that the author spoke very clearly that given the opportunity to be with as many people as we could ever desire, we would still tend to gravitate towards that one special person in the end.

107871 So I finished the book a few days ago. I really enjoyed it. Since we do not really have a huge group yet, I figured we could discuss our views of the book here, and maybe the activity in the forums will help draw in more readers.

I am interested in knowing how everyone perceived the world described by mr. Huxley, specifically as it pertains to his view of the industrialization process and limitations imposed on the population when it came to relationships.

107871 I will be starting it tomorrow, as soon as I finish my current read.

107871 Yes, 10 Things I Hate About You is based loosely on the play, as a modern portrayal.

107871 I was going to start labour day weekend, since that is the beginning of school and I feel it matches the timing best. How about Brave New World and Taming of the Shrew for the two books. All Shakespeare is available online for free due to expired copyright laws. We ok with that?

107871 Well the ones I remember as being pretty common are books like Catcher in the Rye, Catch-22, most Shakespeare plays, Animal Farm.

107871 I was thinking like an 8pm or 7pm EST start time, for about an hour.

107871 I am torn between doing a Fairy Tales month, or reliving High School literature month. Votes?

107871 The first hang-out has not been scheduled yet, and that is a good thing because, as of this writing, the books have not yet been picked. I am hoping to have the hang-out scheduled on a specific date each month, and am currently thinking the third Thursday, but am willing to take suggestions from the members of the group.

Also, as I have not yet assembled a group of participants, I am opening up the forum to volunteers who would like to speak about the selected books on a hang-out, to be posted on YouTube. This can be a regular group, or a group assembled each month based on interest.

107871 As a first post, I figured it would be good to get an idea of book themes members are interested in. Here is a list, in no particular order, or ideas I have had, or heard:

-True Crime (Halloween maybe?)
-Biographies
-Romantic Fiction (February?)
-High School English class
-Suspense
-Classics
