106503 Welcome! This is the second Groupwide Challenge which the group will conduct and you all are welcome to participate! Each and every member of the group is more than welcome to come and join us as we try to improve and enrich our experience of reading.

I just have one request before you make up your mind for joining : Please make sure that you will be active on GoodReads for the next 3-4 months at least. We had conducted a team challenge previously, but after signing up, members disappeared and the challenge...well, let's just say, it had to be deleted. I don't want people to join and then later on stop doing the challenge.

So, before signing up, make sure that you honestly are interested and will be active on GR for the next 3-4 months.

THE BASICS OF THE CHALLENGE

★ The challenge will be conducted over a period of 12 weeks.
The challenge starts on 27th April, 2015 and ends on 20th July, 2015.
★ All the sign-ups will be divided into teams of 3,4 or 5 depending upon the number of sign-ups.
★ The teams will be divided upon a random basis.
Re-reads are allowed for the challenge.
★ The books read for the challenge should be at least 200 page long.
★ The team with the maximum points at the end of week 12 will be the winner.

HOW TO PLAY

★ Each week, 3 new theme/clue will be provided to the participants of all the groups. [Please not. There is a difference between a theme and a genre. A genre means Romance, YA, contemporary etc. whereas a theme/clue is completely different.]
★ The members of each group have to complete either 1,2 or 3 of the themes. The points with each theme will be mentioned when the themes are announced.
★ Each member can read/complete any one clue per week.
★ Once the participants complete with a clue, they submit it in specific threads (which will be mentioned in detail later.)

THE CATCH IN THE CHALLENGE

★ The books which the participants read for completing a clue/theme have to be present in the 'read' shelf of any other member of the same team (which was added at least 3 months ago). For eg, if I want to read the book The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, then I have to make sure that the same book (any version is fine) is present in the 'read' shelf of any other member of my team and, the book has been added to the shelf at least 3 months ago.

★ The team members can decide among themselves which member will take on which clue depending upon the availability of books in the 'read' shelves of the members.

IMMUNITY

Introducing something new this time. Now, 12 weeks. 36 themes/clues. Choosing the books from other members' read shelf. Not necessary that you'll always get the right book. Thus, comes in the option of 'Immunity'. Basically, with this option, you can pass a week's themes/clues and still get 10 points. So, suppose, a team can't find any book fitting any of the themes/clues, then they opt for immunity (where they don't have to complete that week's themes/clues) and yet be rewarded with 10 points.

However, the catch here. Each team will be given only two chances to opt for immunity. Hence, use your immunity wisely.

Here ends the basics of the challenge. Further details and instructions will be provided later.

106503 Title : Harvest (Frankie Harlow #1)
Author : Beth Martinu
Summary : Frankie Harlow is an 18 year old university student. She plays carer to her father, who never fully recovered from her mother’s death 6 years ago, and essentially had to raise herself. Her father’s incapacitation at the hands of love has her sworn off of romance, vowing to never let herself become so dependent on another. Her uneventful life revolves around her study, her father, and her two life-long friends Alyssa and Cameron- until she finds a mysterious locket.

In her search for its rightful owner she learns more about the locket’s ancient origins, and the deeper she gets, the more it seems to embed itself in her very existence. When a man she had been dreaming about drops dead at her feet and the locket responds, it becomes clear the answer is more sinister than she ever imagined.
