The above link is the url for our newly created Goodreads Cookboook Collectors Group chat room. The purpose of this room is to allow us to meet and discuss books and hold special events such as an upcoming Author's Visit. More details of that event will be listed under Events when a date and time is set, which should be soon! We're building towards being a great group that you will be glad you joined!
Love,
Marilyn

Love,

I would invite William Shakespeare and his wife, Ann. I would round out the party with my friends, the Nussenbaums, my friend Cres, my friend Rob, my Mom and my kids and grandkids. There would be about 20 of us, give or take a friend or date, if one or more grandchild wishes to bring a date. That makes things very cozy in my condo!
I would serve shrimp cocktails, sorbet, zucchini soup, leg of lamb with gravy on the side and mint jelly on the side, fresh steamed green beans and home-made mashed potatoes. For dessert I would serve a decadent chocolate layer cake with strawberries and home-made whipped cream. I would serve both white and red wines so people could choose their preference and have soft drinks for the younger set.

I love both of them but have to say I prefer Diane Mott Davidson because of her main character, Goldy Bear. Perhaps it's my preference because one of my grandmother's names was Goldie, or because I never know what's going to happen next. Also, I love her selection of recipes.
But, I really like Joanne Fluke's Hannah Svensen because I want to know which guy she ends up with! Joanne really keeps me guessing with this mystery which runs through all of her books that I have read thus far. I also like her recipe selections.
If you haven't read, "Fax Me A Bagel" by Sharon Kahn and like Joanne Fluke's and Diane Mott's series, try this delightful series. I have only read her first two books as I just discovered there are more. As soon as my hubby gives me the ok, I'll have to order them from Amazon.com! The heroine of this series is the widow of a Rabbi. Her name is Ruby. I know many of you, if not all, will relate well to her!

Good recipes with readily available ingredients.
Recipes that are original.
Cookbooks can and should be written with a sense of humor.
Information about the history of the recipe should be included.
Nutritional Information should always be included.
Cookbooks should bind the author and reader together so bits of personal history would be a nice inclusion.
Minimum use of equipment not found in most homes.
