I've been reading classics this year already with no particular framework in place but after taking some time to think about it, I'd like to read at least 12 new classics this year. I'm hoping that at least 6 of those will be classics that are new to me. I'm already at 9 and I finished Middlemarch which is so huge it should count for two! I'm thinking of picking up another Charlotte Bronte novel for my next new read since I've only read Jane Eyre of hersSo far my re-reads: Persuasion, Pride and Prejudice, Little Women, Anne of Green Gables
New reads: Sanditon and the Watsons, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, Agnes Grey, Middlemarch, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day

I'd really like to read one that's lighter and causes laughter rather than tears."Try reading something by P.G. Wodehouse! I especially like his Jeeves stories which are set in the interwar period. The stories are very clever with lots of hilarious characters. The first book is My Man Jeeves . There is also a TV adaptation from the 1990s starring Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry that is delightful. I think there are some full episodes available on YouTube
I'm looking to discover some new classics from the Victorian and Edwardian periods, especially books written by women! Some of my favourite classics are Jane Eyre, Anne of Green Gables and ALL of Jane Austen, so I'd be interested in anything with a similar feel. I also liked North and South but not sure where to go next with Gaskell. I would love to hear any of your recommendations!
Hi! My name is Adrianna and I'm from western Canada (Alberta). I love Jane Austen and some of my other favourite classics are Jane Eyre, Anne of Green Gables, and The Secret Garden. I'm currently re-reading Emma in anticipation of the new movie adaptation coming our in February. I graduated from university in the spring, and I'm enjoying the freedom to read books that haven't been assigned to me by professors. I'm interested in trying to read more Elizabeth Gaskell-I read North and South a while ago, and at least one more Brontë novel- maybe Agnes Grey.
