I don't think we should rush it I'm way. behind as well. I feel like this is a book that's meant to be read slowly and thoughtfully. I am enjoying it though!
How is everyone doing with this? I have decided to only read 20 min. a day because I find much more than that and my mind starts to wander. I find the reading challenging but gratifying. There are a lot of mundane passages, but then he will have a sentence or phrase or paragraph that is so insightful or beautiful. Obviously I won't finish in the same timeline as you all, but I would love to read your thoughts on the book so far.
@regina, thank you! I saw that the first volume is available at my library so I'm going to pick it up later today! I'm so glad to be reading this with a group! This and The Iliad are my two major book challenges for the year!
@Regina! thank you! I'm a bit nervous, but also excited to give it a try. I appreciate the helpful tips!
I am planning on attempting Marcel Proust's Swann's Way next year. Any suggestions on what translation to read? Lydia Davis seems to be mentioned a lot. Thoughts?

Seems like you've had quite a reading year. I have added Proust for next year as my most difficult classic and I'm really nervous, but also excited to tackle it. Looking forward to seeing your updates throughout the year.
Hi guys!My name is Elizabeth, I'm from Massachusetts. I have a BA in English Lit and love Austen and the Brontes of course (especially Ann who I feel is underrated). I am so excited to discover new authors through this group. My goal is one classic a month. Thanks for putting this together Lucy!
