103025 ah yes yes!!!! I'm so excited to find out things about Sam!

And Arthur as well, I'm so curious to find more about him and how his relationship with Mabel might pan out.

Not to mention that old man (omg his name totally slipped me right now but i'll remember it later!) it'd also be interesting to see what's up with him and how he keeps taking the powers from other Diviners

103025 Well first of all i'm super stoked for the next book!!! 2014 seems so far away! :(

As for my predictions, i'm hoping we finally get a glimpse into Henry's past and his powers, in the first book there was some mention of him traveling through dreams so we'll have to see...

Also, that girl from the Chinese restaurant!!! I hope we finally get to meet her in this one!

103025 For me, there were some parts that felt a bit too crammed i guess?? Like, libba bray introduced ALL these characters and all of them seem to have mysterious backstories and powers and whatnot but she only ended up explaining about half of them. I understand it's because she's building up the quadrilogy(??) but as a reader, it still felt a bit forced at times.

But then again that may have just been me.

Also, there were some descriptive parts that felt too draggy? Dont get me wrong, i love libba bray's style of writing, but there would be times where she'd be describing a house, or a room, and it would literally take an entire page (or half of one). And as much as it builds up ambiance and tone, at some point it gets to be too much. I mean, an author can only wax poetic about a single room for so long before the reader starts to get bored with it.

Tat's pretty much all i can critique about the writing style i guess.....
Favorite Part? (4 new)

103025 This is so true for me as well!! At one point i distinctly remember it being nighttime while i was reading and my whoke family was asleep, and when a naughty john scene came up i had to stop reading because it was getting too creepy.

My favorite scene though, is definitely the one where jericho and evie were at that county fair. Call me a romantic but i really found it so cute!!

YES!!! i find myself raising my eyebrows when people talk about how the lingo in the Diviners was too extensive or that they couldn't understand the dialogue because of the lingo.

In my opinion, i find it kind of weird for them to say that because said lingo is what makes the book a little bit more realistic in the first place. Flappers in the 20s actually did talk like that and if Libba Bray didn't apply the lingo to Evie's (or anyone's character) then the book wouldn't have been half as historically accurate as it already was.

Was it difficult to keep up with all the different 20s phrases and terminologies? Yeah sure, sometimes, but that's what set the tone and character of the book and you can't fault an author for doing their research now can you?

I'm super excited for the next books simply because I'm just really eager to see how Evie progresses. I also see all her potential which is great because from the get-go she's already shaping up to be such a well thought out character! :D

103025 words cannot describe how much i LOVE evie's character okay.

i mean, THANK YOU LIBBA BRAY, for once i have a YA heroine who isn't filled with self loathing and has a horrible self image of herself despite the fact that every available boy around her seems to fall in love with her for no reason.

the beauty about Evie, to me, is that she's the most realistic heroine i've ever encountered. She's spoiled and reckless but most important of all is that she's vain and extremely confident. Something you don't see in YA heroines that much. I LOVE that she's vain and kind of spoiled at times, it gives her such depth and leaves so much room for character growth.

Plus, I just love the fact that i have a heroine who loves herself for a change. I've been getting so bored with the "bella swans" out there who keep degrading themselves to evoke reader pity when in all honesty it just makes me want to strangle them. Evie isn't like that, she knows she's got looks and the confidence for it and she embraces that about herself which is exactly what makes her a strong, independent woman that don't need no 20s man!!
