Your reasons are exactly why I read comic books Brad. Sometimes I don't want to know about the Treaty of Versailles, I want to see Batman upper cut a punk and kick the crap out of the Joker.
Fantasy was never really piqued my interest but I might have to pick these up.

I really enjoyed the Hunger Games Alan. Read all three in about 2 weeks and thought the same thing you did. Not necessarily literary classics but entertaining, fun, and kept me wanting to read them.
I'm definitely a fan of them.
