[close] So many books, so little time! There's no way you can read every book published in any given year--and with the wide range of quality out there, who would want to? This book club is hedging the bets to find high-quality reads by choosing award winning novels. Every month, we'll read one winner of the National Book Award, Pulitzer Prize, or any other award list our members want to reference. During the last week of the month, we'll get together to relax, sip coffee, and share thoughts on a book that some prize committee believes is a worth-while read. This book club is as much about sharing the reading experience as it is about meeting new people! Members will meet in Newport News, VA, on the last Monday of each month. [close] Beta read new Jeffrey Marcus Oshins novel the Dim Light of Reason. Help the author polish and test reading group discussion topics. Oshins' fifth novel is about a woman's search for the daughter she gave up for adoption when she was sixteen.

[close] Books, food, and fun, once a month. In the time of Corona, we were meeting virtually via Zoom, but now we're back to meeting in-person in the DMV area. We choose our books by poll, two months prior. We eliminate suggestions from the "pot" if they (1) are longer than 500 pages, (2) are not available in ebook format, and (3) are not available in at least 3 DMV-area public library systems.
