[close] This is a book group hosted by the UMass Boston Applied Linguistics department. While the group has as a primary function to bring together students and alumni of the program, our doors are open to everyone interested in the topic!

[close] I'm happy to answer questions about English language variation and multicultural education. What are the major challenges that educators face when helping students learn standardized English? To help you get started, who was most likely to correct your language when you were a student?

[close] Founded in 1977, the American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL) is a professional organization of scholars who are interested in and actively contribute to the multi-disciplinary field of applied linguistics. AAAL members promote principled approaches to language-related concerns, including language education, acquisition and loss, bilingualism, discourse analysis, literacy, rhetoric and stylistics, language for special purposes, psycholinguistics, second and foreign language pedagogy, language assessment, and language policy and planning.
