[close] A group for performance art, an art form considered as fine art, such as a painting or sculpture. Through their performance, the performance artist often become the material used to make the work. Performance art is based on time, the work exists in the moment of its creation, whilst documentation and artefacts from the performance are often residues, but may still become works in their own right. The performance artist often uses their own body or presence, but might find other ways to orchestrate a time-based piece. The audience who experience the artwork are not separate from the artwork, and they are often either within it or a fundamental part of it.
