Humanist

[close] A place for the SEVASH group to share books and discuss. Things you can do: Volunteer to be a moderator (warning: your username will show up to outsiders), start Discussions, create and answer Polls, and add books to the Bookshelf (any book, doesn't have to be related to atheism, skepticism, or humanism. can be fun reads too). Feel free to message me here, on FB, or through the SEVASH Discord if you have any problems using this site. I also created a discussion to answer any and all questions.

[close] Group for discussion about Secular Humanism. Generally for those who either are Secular Humanists, or those who want to know about it. Support for info & books about Secular Humanism. Not for religious people to slam or otherwise put down. Non-religious (secular) morals & ethics derive from conscience and observation of the world in terms of reality ("let your conscience be your guide"). Ethics are preferred to synthesized morals and are practical, and work realistically. Science confirms reality and the real world around us and helps better explain and define it. "Secular" denotes "without and free of religion" as the U.S. government is supposed to be (see Separation Of Church And State). "Humanist" denotes being human, a member of humanity, and support of and by fellow human beings; i.e. social cooperation of and by equals. Also, being free of bias, prejudice and racism; but being a rational, reasoning, and objective person. [close] Transpersonal psychology is concerned with the study of humanity's highest potential, and with the recognition, understanding, and realization of unitive and spiritual and transcendent states of consciousness. Here is a place for identifying and discussing the literature in, on, and around the topic, its roots, and its newest iterations, and to foster and grow a community for whom the topic resonates.
