[close] Welcome to the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education’s Civics Book Club. Our virtual book club was born out of a desire to connect with our teachers and volunteers during a time where our face-to-face interactions are limited, but we hope to continue this project indefinitely. We are grateful for a space to connect with everyone as we further our commitment to lifelong learning. This group will be a home for online discussion about OCLRE’s book club selections. Whether you join our group discussions on Zoom or are reading along independently, we welcome you to submit questions and comments, and to reply to others’ comments, to keep the conversations flowing. We hope this space will allow you to connect with members of the book club community as we recognize and appreciate everyone as scholars and reflective practitioners of civic education.

[close] We read books with big ideas. We talk about them. We learn things. We grow together. What's a *Big Idea*? Something larger than current events and trends that gives us a fresh perspective or understanding on our world. Our reads are not overly partisan. However, we recognize everyone has a point of view, and allow some bias. We identify and engage bias rather than pretend that objectivity exists. Our reads are designed for a broad audience. You don't have to be an economist or physicist to follow.

[close] Hello, and welcome! RAMP--the "Rehumanizing America" Project--is simply an effort to discover why we are increasingly divided in this country and what we as individuals can do about it. The Library for RAMP, then, will not belong to any one discipline, but will reach across a range of disciplines that explore why we are who we are (as humans, as Americans, etc.) and what we can do to overcome our hidden biases, tribal defensiveness, and dehumanizing tendencies. Feel free to add books to the bookshelf, and please consider adding your reflective notes about the book, your thoughts as to how it relates to this group, a simple note of, "Looks interesting!" for those discovered but not yet read, etc. Feel free to also list in the comments sections any other resources (videos, articles, organizations, etc.) that speak to these issues.
