[close] Welcome to Chelmsford Public Library’s Classics Book Group! It is being moderated by the library’s Reader’s Advisory Team - Jessica FitzHanso, Head of Reader’s Services, and Deanna Parsi, Adult Services Specialist. We had a few goals in mind when creating this new book group. One is to give people the opportunity to participate in spirited book discussion from the comfort and safety of their own homes. Another is an acknowledgement that we don’t all have schedules that can easily accommodate a book group at a set time, so we have created a book group you can attend on your time. Lastly, we were talking about the classics – the ones we have read and the ones that we should have read – and figured that we were not alone in wanting to expand our literary education. The book group will have a weekly structure. Each week we will provide some historical background or literary information for context. We will then post a discussion question, as well as throw in some weekly “quizzes” (don’t worry, there are no grades here!) or other fun asides. The advantage of this type of book group is that you can check back as often or as little as you like. We do hope, however, that you will tune in each week and participate. We have one simple rule, which we will state even though we know you already know it: Be kind and respectful of each other when posting. With that, welcome to our book group.
