[close] Are you living with a disability, or know someone who is? Do you or someone you love struggle with a mental health condition like anxiety, schizophrenia, depression, or Asperger's syndrome? Or are you a student or professional in the field of disability or mental health? Then this book club might be for you! I'm hoping to use this Goodreads group as a public forum for discussions around the issues of disability, marginalization, freedom and dissent. In my opinion, issues of disability are intimately connected to the preservation of the social freedoms we all enjoy, as well as our continuing prosperity. If we could get the conversation around disability (physical, emotional and mental) right, many of the social problems we grapple with as a society would vanish. In this group, we'll read first-person narratives of disability and dissent, classics in the areas of political philosophy and metaphysics, and books on current and historical events. Particularly of interest are Western political philosophers from the 18th century onward, narratives of resistance (both fiction and nonfiction), comparative religion, and historical books about the Nazis. I’ve set up this group for a number of reasons: To promote, read, discuss and share Neurodivergent authors books. To promote, read, discuss and share BIPOC authors books. To promote, read, discuss and share LGBTQIA+ authors books. To continually educate myself, amplify and listen, unlearn and learn from those with lived experience. To share my passionate interest of reading with others. Books will mainly be relating to Neurodiversity, Neurodivergence, Autism, ADHD, identity politics, advocacy, unlearning unconscious prejudice, learning from those with lived experience and social justice.

But let’s face it, parenting them can be tough and we need an outlet to handle the stress and build us up.
