This is a board where the class discusses the books that we have read for enjoyment.
This should be used as a resource to find books that you like based on what your peers have to say about them.
At the end of the year, you should be able to:
Categorize and summarize a book you have read independently. Giving enough information that creates interest in the book.
Reflect and evaluate the reasons you enjoyed (or disliked) the book. Provide specific examples to show the reader your thinking.
Make a personal connection by focusing on who you know would like the book, and why. This is not a general question, i.e. "science fiction nerds will love the new Star Wars book" isn't what I'm looking for.
"My friend Ned, who loves all things Star Wars will go nuts over this latest installment in the saga. He will especially flip at the final revelation because..." is what I'm going for.
Clearly communicate your thoughts about a text's value to others.
Academic honesty and civility are expected. You must have read the books within the month, and have polite discussions.
Any negative feedback towards a fellow student will negatively affect your grade, and result in a conference with me.
