Evelyn writes historical fiction based on real people and events.
Born and raised in London, England, Evelyn began writing stories as a child. Her interest in history was fired by old Hollywood films and historical novels by authors such as Jean Plaidy. The local library supplied historical knowledge in the form of non-fiction historical books and biographies. After moving to rural Norfolk, and still influenced by Errol Flynn’s swashbuckling days, a chance encounter with Captain Charles Johnson’s A General History of the Robberies and Murders of the Most Notorious Pirates set her on the road to her first published novel about the famous pirate Bartholomew Roberts. HISTORICAL CALENDARS - JULIAN AND GREGORIAN

While researching for my latest WIP I wanted to know on what day of the week a certain date in 1644 fell. So I found an online calendar for that year. Easy peasy? Well, no, not exactly. For when I came across some information which gave me a different day and date for that year, and guess what? It did not tally with the online calendar. And that meant a headache for me. Check out ONE SMALL CANDLE about the Pilgrim Fathers, and GENTLEMAN OF FORTUNE about pirate Bartholomew Roberts. Both out on Kindle, and Gentleman of Fortune is also in Paperback.
