I’ve always been writing something. Diaries, letters, poems, short stories. I’d even attempted to write a novel a couple of times when I was about thirteen. Still, there was always something more important than my writing.

There was always “real life” reminding me of its undeniable claims. “You have to study, you have to work, there is no place for fruitless dreaming,” it whispered. And I moved forward as if running on rails I couldn’t step down from.

True, there are days, when I sit with a cursor flashing on a page on my laptop, and don't write a word. But if I don't give up, the next day is different. The point is, if you give up, you'll definitely not write a word, but if you persist, there is a chance.(less)

The Secret Lives of the Doyenne of Didsbrook: Never share your secrets with anyone The Secret Lives of the Doyenne of Didsbrook: Never share your secrets with anyone by Tessa Barrie

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

First of all, I must confess that I have a soft spot for the English countryside as a book setting. Two decades ago, I used to live in a beautiful rural location on the Jurassic coast, and every time I read about an English village, it brings a warm wave of nostalgia. “It was better if someone took over her safety today, even if the only one who could do it was an artificial intellect device.”
Eve Koguce, Neglected Merge

“Love doesn't make the world go 'round; love is what makes the ride worthwhile.”
Shannon Alder

“I believe life is constantly testing us for our level of commitment, and life's
greatest rewards are reserved for those who demonstrate a never-ending
commitment to act until they achieve. This level of resolve can move mountains, but it must be constant and consistent. As simplistic as this may
sound, it is still the common denominator separating those who live their
dreams from those who live in regret.”
Anthony Robbins

“Music is enough for a lifetime, but a lifetime is not enough for music.”
Sergei Rachmaninov

“Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live. And unselfishness is letting other people's lives alone, not interfering with them. Selfishness always aims at creating around it an absolute uniformity of type. Unselfishness recognizes infinite variety of type as a delightful thing, accepts it, acquiesces in it, enjoys it. It is not selfish to think for oneself. A man who does not think for himself does not think at all. It is grossly selfish to require of one's neighbor that he should think in the same way, and hold the same opinions. Why should he? If he can think, he will probably think differently. If he cannot think, it is monstrous to require thought of any kind from him. A red rose is not selfish because it wants to be a red rose. It would be horribly selfish if it wanted all the other flowers in the garden to be both red and roses.”
Oscar Wilde, The Soul of Man & Prison Writings

“I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.”
Robert A. Heinlein
