Can Ziklas: -Evet muallim efendi! Felâtun Efendi öyle söyledi. Bizim zihnimiz şaşırdı.

Râkım: -Hayır Efendim! Bunda zihin şaşıracak bir şey yok. Felâtun Beyefendi ra’nâ bilirler ama birdenbire zihinlerine gelmedi. Vâkıâ beyim, mektepte biz buyurduğunuz gibi okuduk. Ama bizim okuduğumuz elifba yalnız Arapça içindir. Türkçe için ise ondan fazla birkaç harfe ihtiyacımız vardır. Meselâ “paşa, çavuş, müjde” yazacağımız zaman nasıl yazarız? Elbette bu harflere muhtaç olmaz mıyız?”
