D. P. Haka was born and bred in Asia, and is now living in Europe. When she's not doing her full-time job or relaxing at home with her husband, she writes.

Story-telling has always been her favorite pastime. As a child, she used to draw comics in different kinds of themes, from love stories to super heroes. As she grew older, her time to draw comics became a lot less, so she began to write down the stories instead. That's how the writing hobby started.

The dream-giver is her best friend. Dreams and nightmares are where she usually gets her ideas for her writing. She writes for fun, she writes to record her dreams and nightmares. She writes about things she knows and things she doesn't know.

In real life, I always have a hard time letting things go, so not only do I remember things/events from my childhood or dreams, but also how I felt in those moments.

Sometimes the only way for me to express those emotions is by writing them down, and when I get enough of them, I would spin and mix them until they become one coherent story. (less)

The terrible feeling I got from the nightmare stayed with me for a long time, because it was something that could very well happen in real life.

It's terrible to have something bad done to you; bad enough that you will always remember it. But what if something terrible is done to you without you even knowing it, or remembering it? I personally think this one is even scarier. Would you then want to know it at all? Or would you rather not know, ever? After all, what you don't know won't hurt you.

So I played with the idea in my head, taking the thrill from the nightmare and mixing it with memories and other stories I had. (less)

The Firstborn

Being the youngest child in the family, I don’t know what it feels like to be a firstborn. Having no live children, I also don’t know what it feels like to have a firstborn.

But I do have 2 baby books, and might be able to share my experience of giving birth to the firstborn and watch her grow.

First, I must admit that I sometimes forget my firstborn. Or maybe forget is the wrong word. ‘Give up’ sou
