Southerners love a good story. Denny Hamann grew up in Albemarle, a small mill town in the Piedmont section of North Carolina. He listened to every tale someone took the time to tell. Denny started writing short stories that chronicled some of his childhood recollections. He is a finalist in the 2023 Elizabeth Simpson Smith short story writing contest. Denny is a South Carolina Writers Association member and the North Myrtle Beach Writers Group member.

Denny's first historical fiction novel, Cryin's for Hungry Babies, is based on genealogical information about his second great-grandfather, Henry Garner Aldridge. It was released on December 4, 2022.
