Richard Derus I still can't remember anything about A Tale of Two Cities. I disliked the read, and the author, to the dismay of my Dickensian (in all senses) older sister, my English teacher, and legions of Dickensite readers across the web, as I refuse to acknowledge his books are Perfect.
Not for me, they're not.

Kurt I found Ben Aaronovitch's books through your recommendation, Lois, and have enjoyed them a lot. I should be finishing False Value tomorrow.

Gabrielle I discovered Georgette Heyer through Lois' list, what a treasure trove!

Marti Dolata Emotional vs intellectual enjoyment maybe? I often remember that I enjoyed a book but not why if it was just engaging my intelligence but "worse" books that punched an emotion button remain memorable.

Jonathan Palfrey Your Seal of Approval hasn't been a reliable guide for me so far, because of course my tastes aren't the same as yours; but it has led me to Ben Aaronovitch, whose books I've liked, albeit not quite as much as your own.
