Judith I am a little more than half way through this book, and i agree with you completely. The sex details are completely unnecessary and truly takes away from the book. It added nothing!

Dae This was absolutely a necessary part of the story! Chapter 25 gives us insight into the road toward Josie's downfall. It also shows how neglected the kids were and what an unsafe environment they were left in. Parents that leave drugs around for their children to find... and then leave their children unattended so that they can do the drugs! Also, without this scene, we wouldn't have realized how bad Josie messed up with Dylan. Earlier in the book "Mari" mentions that she herself was the reason Dylan killed himself. We had to learn the gravity of the situation and this scene (the beach and the cocaine) was the perfect way to outline that.

Courtney Brock I don't know how this story could have been told in such an honest and brutal way without that chapter.

Josefa Wann I couldn't find anything offensive in the book and I disagree 100% With Emily and Judith comments.
