This is why I NEVER read books with animals in them. I skip to the end and if the animal dies I just shelve the book. Hate sad endings too.i
The cat dies, but the circumstances regarding her death is unknown. I got the impression, she simply passed, but the author didn't know and it is left to ones imagination as to what really occurred.
