Exactly what I just told Shaun I'd do if I were starting to read Pynchon now. What I didn't say is that I truly failed to get GR until I had read everything else he wrote. i "read" it right after V, but I didn't understand it. It took a good part of a life-span before I could do that. Whereas Inherent Vice is so much more accessible.
